WonderLab: Become An Inspired Learner

Design It! will give kids the chance to try their hand at creating anything from their favorite brand's new logo to a new clothing line, after learning about the different stages of design and a select group of designers that revolutionized one (or more!) aspect of design. All kids interested in graphic, visual, or material arts will love this workshop!

Build It! will be a workshop devoted to learning about the core tenants of architectural design and mechanics, and then allowing kids to dive into creating their own unique structures. Challenges for this workshop will include: Can it grow taller? Hold more? Be made with less?

Film It! is for any kid who ever wanted to learn more about film making--from brainstorming a story's plot, to storyboarding, to the actual production! This workshop will have kids actually creating (filming and editing) short films in groups.

Map It! will be a great opportunity for children who love to explore and tackle challenges as this workshop will test their navigation skills and resourcefulness. It will start by diving into  the great feats already accomplished by maps and mappers, and the exciting challenges that still exist. Then each kid will have the opportunity to either make a scavenger hunt or go on one using tools they developed!

Play It! will be a chance for your kids to invent their own instruments, improve existing instruments, and create (and record!) their own musical composition in our Lab.

Light It! will be a chance for your kids to explore the masterminds who developed electricity, learn  the basic principles of connectivity, and build their own circuit! It will be an afternoon full of discovering how to create circuits and understanding how to sustain light.

Code It! will be a chance for your kids to learn about the masterminds who developed the computer and different coding languages. This will lead up to the learners inventing (or improving!) their own code to build an online game or a secret code to communicate with friends!

Roll It! will be full of fun activities including a time travel into the past to learn about the creative minds behind automobiles and trains, all leading up to your kids becoming inventing and improving “Rollers” themselves! Whether it be powered by balloons, the wind, or a self-made motor, each kid will create their own rolling invention.

Say It! will give kids the opportunity to learn how to communicate both with and without words. The workshop involves fun games and activities, creating tools to help communicate, and group discussions about language. They will have a chance to then perform one (or several) ways people use body language, codes, and motion to communicate without words.

Soar It! will leave each kid energized and inspired after learning about the creators of the first plane and rocket, and then having a go at creating their own soaring machines. Whether its a chemical mixture, a balloon, or nature's forces, kids will garner the energy from their selected power source to get their invention (or improvement!) soaring!

Sail It! will give each kid the tools and resources needed to create their very own sailing vessel, right after they learn all about the big contributors to the boats and submarines that we have (and enjoy!) today. Then they will be challenged to either increase the weight their boat can carry, the distance their boat can travel, or the speed their boat can garner!
ABOUT WONDERLAB
WonderLab is an incubator where projects are dreamed up and get done. Students are active doers, setting and achieving their own goals, backed by a supportive community. By diving into the work of their very own projects, our members get on the path to figuring out the intersection of their gifts, their passions, and what the world needs.
